About

My name is Melanie Varnell and I am currently a College of Business student at Colorado State University, two years until I graduate.  I am a Colorado native who is truly in love with the state in which I live and grew up in.

Having now two years until I graduate, makes me think about the future and what is out there for me to find and experience.  I am a passionate hard worker which makes me that much more excited for what challenges I will have to conquer in the real world. Given this about myself, this blog represents an issue close to my eager heart.

Women have been unequal as far back as cavemen days, the challenges that have been overcome since back then that were insurmountable make it that much more baffling as to why there is still inequality between man and woman, especially in the workplace.

I am here to inform all who is interested (which should be everyone because everyone has a mom, sister or grandma who I’m sure they care deeply about) of the truths behind the gender wage gap and attempt to possible solutions that could better this problem that has affected this whole country on some level.

My main goal is that of equality.  There is absolutely no reason why women should be getting paid less than men as well as be treated differently in the workplace.  A worker is a worker, accomplishments are accomplishments and success is success, the gender of all of these should be irrelevant, yet our country has made it the norm to discriminate based off of sex.

So to my readers, be kind, be fair and be compassionate, for every person is fighting a different battle and the best thing to do is to give each person the same respect you would want to be given to you.

  1. Your About page appeals very well using ethos, pathos, and logos! Great work here! I enjoyed reading about you, your interest in the topic, and what you hope your target audience will take away from the blog.
